The Omaha Symphony Guild sponsors the Omaha Symphony Guild International New Music Competition. Each year the winner of the music competition is awarded a music scholarship of $3000 to assist with their musical education. To be eligible for this musical scholarship, the applicant must be a junior or senior at graduate level. The Omaha Symphony Guild is honored to present this award for the best composition of symphony music. This is a one-time award and cannot be renewed and that makes it even more desirable for the many applicants who are hopeful to take the award home. The deadline to apply for the Omaha Symphony Guild International New Music Award is April 15th of the applicable year. The deadline has already expired for this year but all applicants are encouraged to apply for the upcoming 2010 season. The American Recorder Society (ARS) offers summer scholarships for music workshops for the young and the young at heart. These music scholarships for summer are presented in honor of previous ARS members Jennifer Wedgwood, Maraget S. DeMarsh and Andrew Acs. Much of the funds raised to support these summer program scholarships for music derive from the memory fund set up by friends and family members of these loving ARS members. Other funds are raised through generous donations and fund raising scholarship drives. Of course the American Recorder Society will accept any donations that you are willing to provide to help ensure that recorder enthusiasts will continue to have support. The society is aware that so many young people start off choosing the recorder as instrument of choice. The AMCA Music Choral Scholarship was established in honor of former AMCA Executive Secretary Guy Stoppert. This unknown choral scholarship is available to not only American students but International students as well. AMCA or the Associated Male Choruses of America was first incorporated in 1924. The organization was established with a few particular goals in mind. One goal was to draw interest to choral music. They also wanted to encourage the performance of choral music. Finally, they wanted to show their appreciation for great male choral music. The organization was formed out of true love and dedication to the field of male choral music. It would take 50 years however before the AMCA Music Scholarship would be considered and the process towards its birth initialized.
