If you have been involved with band or other forms of music during high school then you will want to look at the various types of musical scholarships out there that are offered. Some of them require a person to have a certain GPA, a certain number of years with music, or to play a particular instrument.

One of the music college scholarships out there is fun to participate in. This is The Williams Chorale Barcardi Fallon Scholarship Competition. This is open to any high school junior or senior in the areas of instrumental or vocal studies. The funds total $12,000 with $8,500 of it going to the top four participants. The rest will be given in amounts of $300 to other participants.Applicants can be sent in from January 1st through March 15th. All applicants that are selected agree to participate at the competition that will be held in April. The top four will also agree to participate in the spring concert.

Another great music college scholarship to consider applying for is the Davidson Fellows. Students under the age of 18 are eligible to apply. Applications are taken from January 1st through March 3rd. Students have to demonstrate that they have created a significant piece of work in an area of music. This piece of work has to show that it has an impact on society. There are three music scholarships awarded in the amounts of $10,000, $25,000 and $50,000.

If you have a GPA of 2.75 or higher and you have had some struggles along the way there are some music college scholarships for you to apply for. One of them is the Discover Card Tribute Award Scholarship. Applications are taken from December 1st until January 31st. Students must be planning to attend college, show musical talent, leadership qualities, community service that they have taken part in, and obstacles that they have had to overcome in order to be able to attend college. This particular scholarship program offers up to 10 scholarships for music annually. Each of them is for $40,000 with $10,000 being offered per year. The scholarship is renewed for up to four years as long as the GPA continues to be 2.75 or higher. Students need to strive to keep their grades up so that they can continue to benefit from these funds.

High school juniors and seniors can apply for the School Band & Orchestra Magazine Essay Scholarship. Applicants must submit an essay no more than 250 words on a music theme. Applications are accepted from August 1st through December 31st. There will be 10 winners that get a $1,000 scholarship.

Music for All is another terrific music scholarship to take a look at. Students that are going to complete a four year degree in any area of music can apply. They offer 5 scholarships of $2,500 each. Applications are taken from January 1st through April 15th.

If you enjoy singing, playing an instrument, or you are involved with music in other ways there are great opportunities for you.
